Obituary for Lynn E. Miller

Lynn E. Miller, 78 life-long resident of Kearney died on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kearney. Rev. Alan Davis will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and also 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or Habitat for Humanity. Online condolences may be submitted at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

Lynn was born on January 14, 1940 in Kearney, NE to Edward E. Miller and LoDesca A. (Nyquist) Miller. He was a graduate of the Kearney High School class of 1958 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Kearney State College in 1965. On September 1, 1963, he was united in marriage to Peggy I. Rogers in Alliance, NE. After graduating from college, he began farming and ranching and later worked in the appraisal and real estate field.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class in Kearney. He enjoyed serving his community through his involvement in Habitat for Humanity and was an active member of the Midway Amateur Radio Club and Nebraska Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. Lynn was an avid UNK Lopers and UNL Huskers fan and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Kearney; daughters, Robyn (John) Forkner of Spring Hill, KS and Brooke Miller of Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lynn’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Good Samaritan Hospital for the kind and compassionate care given to Lynn during his illness.
